mama's daddy quoted to her each year when
Spring finally arrived in South Dakota.

Summer is here

Our mum said her nan used to recite the poem to her as well:
Spring has sprung
The grass is riz,
I wonder where the birdie is.
The bird is on the wing
But that's absurd,
The wing is on the little bird.

That ditty is fun: Mom seems to remember using one that was different for the last 2 lines, but she can't recall what they were! Something more silly that kids made up she thinks.
